What Skills Do I Need?
The primary skills we look for in a Host is a passion and desire to share Brain Gym® within your organization, group or community.
Tips for hosting;
- Do something you will enjoy: If you are not enthusiastic and interested in your own event, how can you expect others to be? Find something you really want to do and put it on at a time which is good and convenient for you.
- Give yourself plenty of time: Plan well in advance and make sure you have most things in place in plenty of time e.g. date selection, contract finalization, facility coordination, technology booking (if required), flyers (electronic and paper), weekly implementation plan. This saves a lot of last minute stress.
- Talk about your event at meetings you are already attending: Ask if you can have 5 minutes on the agenda to share your event and distribute some flyers.
- Discuss your up and coming event with people and point out the reasons you think it will be interesting and beneficial.
- Talk it up positively and your enthusiasm will most likely rub off on others.
- Find out how many people are genuinely interested and if they will be free at the time you plan to put it on. (An event is unlikely to be successful if nobody is interested in the subject or if everyone who is interested already has previous plans.)
- Create a VIP list and personally invite those people: People are much more likely to respond to a personal invitation; even more so if they feel special and wanted. If they are on the fence about going, a personal invitation could easily encourage them.
- Remind everyone: Remind everyone when your event is coming up and remind them again when it's imminent. People don't memorize a flyer or bulletin and if you remind them in a timely fashion then your event will stick in their memory. They will then be more likely and able, to register.
